Possible Causes
Element won’t fit into housing
1. Damaged element
1. Incorrect element selected for particulate size 2. Damaged underlay 3. Damaged element 4. Loose assembly
Particulates getting through the strainer
1. Element mesh/perforation size too small for particulate size/quantity typically present in the process 2. Insufficient CIP pre-rinses 3. Inadequate Preventive Maintenance cleaning of strainer element
Strainer plugging frequently
1. Damaged pump impeller 2. Damage to upstream process equipment 3. Inadequate flushing of new installation
Metal particulates in the strainer
1. Inspect the End Cap for damage, specifically the four (4) “ears” that lock into place. 2. Ensure the End Cap O-Ring is installed and not damaged. 3. Ensure the End Cap O-Ring is lubricated.
